Honeymoon - Part 2 (Half Moon Cay, Bahamas)

Our first day of the cruise we anchored in Half Moon Cay! This is a island owned by Holland America. It was such a nice way to start the trip. It was relaxing and quiet. We laid out on the beach, enjoyed the sun, and then got to ride wave runners!

As you can see, the water was amazing and the weather was perfect! We took the wave runners all through coves on Half Moon Cay after spending the morning relaxing on the beach. Dave wanted to find a place to snorkel but there weren't many options. Overall, it was one of my favorite stops of the trip.

Honeymoon - Part 1 (The Ship)

When Dave and I were discussing where we wanted to go for our honeymoon we knew we wanted to get lots of sun and relaxation. After the winter we had (106" of snow!!) we needed a warm getaway. I looked into all-inclusives which can be a great deal but by the time you add in the airline, we felt like it was a lot and wanted to look into other ideas. I LOVE to cruise! So I started hunting down the perfect one. This is harder than it may seem. We needed one that left around the date of the wedding, was a decent length, and left from a nearby port. We settled on Holland America's 11 Day Sunfarer to the Panama Canal out of Ft. Lauderdale.
We boarded the ship on Monday the 7th after staying the night before in Ft. Lauderdale. The embarkation process was fairly easy but someone failed to inform us that the average age of guests on this sailing is about 70! We made the best of it and it did make for some funny and interesting times aboard the ship. There were a few other honeymooners and some younger people but overall the age was definitely older than we were expecting.

We booked a balcony room on the port side of the ship. It was a great location since that is the side of the ship that had a few of the islands we passed as well as the side of the ship that we docked on most days. Our room was decently sized. I have definitely had bigger rooms but it worked for us. I loved to sit outside and enjoy a glass of wine in the afternoon and watch the ocean go by.

I'll be back with more to tell you about all the fun stuff we did on board and in ports!
